Cambodian
Malaysian Chemical Conference
19
-21 October 2012 at Angkor Century Resort & Spa, Siem Reap, Cambodia
It was the first time that the Cambodian Chemical Society (CCS)
and the Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM) jointly organized the Cambodian
Malaysian Chemical Conference (CMCC) from October 19-21, 2012 in
Siem Reap, Cambodia. CMCC was
being held under the auspices of the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies
(FACS) and strongly supported by the Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC) and
the Academy of Malaysia (ASM).
Approximately 210 participants from 13 countries (
Malaysia, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, India, Kuwait, Thailand,
Indonesia, Jordan, France and Cambodia) around the world, attended the CMCC. The
Conference was officiated by His Excellency Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus
Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Malaysia.
With the theme of “Advancing Chemistry for Sustainable
Socio-economic Development”, CMCC provides an avenue for the academia,
scientists, researchers, educators and professionals to present their research
findings, latest in technology and innovation, and current development in key
areas in pure and applied chemistry. The major focus was on chemistry for socio-economic
development and improving quality of life.
During the Conference, 3 plenary lectures, 4 keynotes, 128 oral
presentations and 15 posters were presented, covering the following seven major
areas of chemistry.
- Inorganic and Bioinorganic Chemistry (IBC)
- Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry (OBC)
- Physical and Computational Chemistry (PCC)
- Environmental and Green Chemistry (EGC)
- General Chemistry and Chemical Education (GCCE)
- Materials and Polymer Chemistry (MPC)
- Natural Products and Medicinal Chemistry (NPMC)
